“Disturbingly ORNATE”

Matt Sauer is a romantic deity and artist with a diverse set of skills and interests that he portrays in his work.

Through his work, he organically and sexually relays his philosophical understanding of existence and consciousness, while critiquing the contemporary era and warning humanity about undesirable futuristic outcomes; namely regarding misuse of emerging technologies; resulting in loss of intellectual control.

Repressed human emotion saturates his compositions, which marry both the figural and the abstract. His reliance on tints, tones, and shades in order to create contrast seemingly defies the widespread utilization of saturated color palettes most prevalently found in works catered towards the colloquials that plague the art world. Sauer creates interesting and dynamic paintings with a rather tactful usage of pigment, confronting the parochial stasis that fine art has stubbed its proverbial toe on.

His works are adorned with the rampant inclusion of uncanny symbolism. Large, organic forms appear draped over themselves; and with these structures he coins the term “Superorganism” - which serves as an allegory for amalgamations coexisting with a potential dire futuristic outcome. While some may find his works perverse and uncanny, Sauer understands that the only way in order to evoke a sense of urgency regarding the issue is to elicit such unsettling emotions. At many of his exhibitions, people experience intense visceral reactions - occasionally screaming or shaking violently at the sight of truthful genius, and subsequently attempt to flee. He watches -whisky in hand - those afflicted with a frigid, solemn gaze. “This is the world they created. This is the spoon that they are fed.” he whispers, as they desperately clamber on the tile - on all fours - towards a door of hedonistic solace and complacent ineptitude.

“I warned humanity. No other prognosticator welcomed abrasion, and hence I intuitively and ironically fostered the idea that brute, yet rhythmic force was the sole avenue of enlightenment. It was the only avenue in order to restructure their dogmatically feeble minds - an attempt to upset the cyclic psuedo-bliss in which their artificially grounded consciousness was so ingrained. To my dismay, it merely filled them with misdirected and putrid contempt, to the point in which they gnawed upon my outstretched member. Though they suckled upon my pink, fleshy teet, they did not reciprocate. They did not love - I do not believe they will - in perpetuity; until they listen to reason - and until they lionize my girth.”

In an interview with himself - while sippling upon and nurturing a decanted glass of Cabernet Sauvignon; tartrate crystals licking the interior walls of the near-empty mother vessel placed upon his plinth - Sauer states:

“The works are so saturated with symbolic meaning and narrative that they will remain prevalent for millennia to come. They are so visually and symbolically dense that they have their own gravity - as if they are at any point just about to fall off the wall. I make billion dollar paintings, only because I factor in all variables of all life. I am all knowing.”

As he indulges in another sipple of fermented grape, the blessed ambrosia runs down his chin, staining those who grovel below.
